Transformer LTC Hands-On Maintenance Training

This presentation is motivated by the lost of experience field hands. With this lost of experience we had to come up with a program to bring the new employee up to speed with a training class to shorten the learning curve. With the LTC training course it gives the new field hands the confidence to go into any LTC's and complete the repairs in a timely manner.

Outdoor Air Switch Maintenance

Training seminar on the restoration of 30- to 40-year-old air disconnect switch equipment. Paul "PJ" Catron, Pascor Atlantic’s Marketing & Customer Service Manager, will delve into the advantages of bringing older equipment back to "like new" condition. This 1 hour overview session cover the actual disassembly and rebuild of a set of switch "live parts". Catron will cover the process, procedure and materials required, as well as insights on how to avoid missteps along the way to ensure a smoothly run refurbishment project. As the average age of high voltage air disconnect switches rapidly approaches 45 years, you will find this information useful in extending equipment life, while maintaining lower budget expenses and preventing unscheduled outages on your system.

Metal Clad Switchgear-Design Concepts and Field Operations

Metal-clad switchgear has often been misunderstood in the power industry as an inflexible means of merely making a substation smaller. This presentation will look at some of the various designs of metal-clad switchgear and their effect on field maintenance practices and operational considerations. From Indoor designs to Outdoor Powercontrol complexes with relay vaults, Metal-clad switchgear is actually quite a versatile product with an excellent history of reliability. Also included is a discussion of ANSI standard Switchgear testing versus NETA field testing recommendations. Finally the discussion will include some "less discussed" maintenance items that can help improve switchgear operability and longevity.
