Distribution Transformer Right Sizing

Participants will learn Ameren's experience with sizing of line transformers. Participants will learn old and new methods for determining size and results of those methods. Different load types will be included, such as Food Service, manufacturing, retail, etc. Ameren's new sizing tool will be presented and discussed along with the expected benefits from proper transformer sizing. Participants will learn how to determine what information is essential and methodology to apply said information to accurately predict electric demand.

Electrical Connections 101

“Kunnekter Fizzix Lite” is an introductory technical presentation, delivered in layman’s terms for both utility linemen and engineers. Its purpose is to explain and illustrate the “Why and Why Not” background and reason for various specifications for different connectors and installation techniques and methods. Participants will gain an understanding of the physics of the electrical interface and the causes for the degradation and eventual failure thereof, as well as the reasons behind the recommendations for materials and workmanship methodology, which is necessary to develop high integrity connector assemblies in the field.
