We are reviewing our gas meter assembly designs for allowing multiple commercial meters on a single manifold. We are interested in what others have defined as small commercial versus large commercial gas meter, and if this definition affects the allowable design of meter assemblies. Specifically, there are four questions to help us understand other industry practices.
How do you define or distinguish between small commercial versus large commercial gas meter: i.e. capacity, meter size, meter type (diaphragm, rotary), assembly design, etc?
What is your policy for installing large commercial meters on a common header (manifold) fed from a single riser?
Do you limit how many large commercial meters may be fed from the same riser?
If a riser splits aboveground to feed two or more large commercial gas meters, how do you classify the riser pipe upstream of the split, i.e.as a branch service, or as main?
